Overview
This video shows how to archive a file and close a matter in OneLaw.
Before a matter can be closed, all balances must be cleared and all transactions must be batch updated. The video explains the difference between archiving a file only and archiving a file while closing the matter.
Prerequisites
Before you begin:
- All matter balances are zero
- All transactions have been batch updated
- You have the permissions required to archive or close a matter

Results
After completing the steps shown in this video:
- The file is archived with an archive reference
- If Archive file and close matter is selected, the matter status is set to Closed and appears in the Closed matter list
- If Archive file is selected, the matter remains open
