- From the home ribbon select ‘New Journal’
- Date the journal for the day you are processing, or tick ‘Use today’s date’
- Enter the reference, reason and amount of the journal
- Select the client and matter to be debited
- Select the client and matter to be credited
- Managed Docs - use the green plus to search for and add documents relevant to the journal
- Tick the ‘Print after saving’ option if you wish to print off a hard copy record of the journal entry
- Click ‘Save & New’ to save journal posting and remain in the financial journal screen for further journals
- Click 'Save & Copy' to save journal posting and retain the Date, Reason and Journal From details
- Click ‘Save & Close’ to save journal and exit the financial journal screen
- Click ‘Close’ to exit the journal screen and abandon entry
Note: if there are insufficient funds in the client account and matter you are debiting, you will be presented with this warning. It’s still possible to proceed with the journal entry but inquiries may need to be made to check if the debit is going to overdraw the trust account.
